英語表現教室（21）英語翻訳の仕方

6月中旬でもって、DaikinのSIMで行ってきた「英語会話教室」は、中止することになりました。
参加者のレベルが、いろいろであるのと、学校の授業のような形式でしかやれなかったのが
原因かもしれません。

ところで、英語会話の基本は約400個の英文を丸暗記することです。
これには、定型文を暗記することですねーー
たとえば、「ご結婚おめでとう！」
(男性に対して）⇒
Congratulations　on　your　marriage!
Let me extend my congratulaions on your marriage.
（＝「ご結婚おめでとう！」）
（女性に対して）⇒
May　you be happy!
(=「お幸せにね！」）
でも、それだけでは、自分の言いたいことが言えませんよねーー」

基本5文型を覚えて、
しかも、400くらいの英文を覚えておれば、それに照らし合わせて、
自分の作った文が正しいかどうかが判別できます。

で-、きょうは「基本の基本」英語の翻訳で一番必要なことをいいましょう。

「ボタンをクリックしてください、そうすれば、表示がかわりますから、2ー3秒待ってください。」

こういうのを翻訳してください」とたのまれましたが、実際にそのゲームなり、そのやり方を
みせてもらない限り、正しい翻訳をすることはできません。

その日本語の意味を本当に理解していないと理解できないからです。

誰が、何をどうしたら、どうなるーーー

上記の文だと、そのまま、訳すならば、

Click　the button and wait a few seconds till the indication changes.

となるが、オソラク、コレデハ、ダメでしょう。

その日本語は、あいまいすぎるからです。

正しくは；
1）Click the blue button at the lower left side of your display, and wait for a few seconds
till the button turns red.

2)If you click one of the two buttons, it will turn red in a few seconds.

であるかも知れない。

フィリスは、幼いころ、英語を自由にはなし、聞くことを夢に生きてきたけど、このあいだのSLでのAnastasia　Watanabeのお葬式で、ALL　Englishでも理解できた。
外語大で、専門教育を受け、神戸の教会　ST. Michael's Cathedralの礼拝にでたりchaplainの先生のBible　Classに通ったり、宣教師の女性のいえに7年間も通ったり、最近は毎年アメリカへ旅行したりしているけれど、SLだと、まいにち
英語に接しているせいか、3年前には、アメリカ人とけんかしたら負けたけど、いまは、けんかに負けたことはない。

アメリカ人とは、意見がちがうと必ず「けんかをふかけてくる国民であるようである。
以前に、頼みもしないのに、わたしの地主とけんかして、頼んでいた仕事をしようにも
BANされてしまって、結局仕事できず、しかも渡していたお金も返してくれないようなことがあった。

勝ったけんかは、ある車売り場で、HUDをつけていたら、UNSCRIPT　ｘｘｘというので、ぐずぐずしていたら
また、BANされた。UNSCRIPTというのは、SCRIPTをはずせというのであるが、
Native-speakerじゃないんだから、説明すべきではないか」
しかもさっと返事をしないとBANというのは、おかしい、こちらはお客なんだから、あんまりなことをいうと、
I will tell your boss about you and you will be fired.といってやった。
後日、その社長から詫びのIMがきたはもちろんのことであった。

＊SLでは、いろんな人に遭遇する。
フィリスことアカリは、「SLはゲームに過ぎないけれど、その背後にはリアルの人間がいるのだから、
そんなに、軽く考えたくない」
1）たとえば、あるSIMだけれど、「世にもおかしな英語で掲示が出ていた、それで、じぶんで直して、そのおかしな英文と、わたしの英文をならべてイギリスの女性のIonaとBasilにみてもらった。98％まで、わたしの指摘したとうりだった。
2）それをSIMの人に、おくったら、まただれかがいじくって、かえって間違いだらけの変な英語にかえられたままになっている。
3）こんな悔しいことはない。

最近、このBLOGを見て、取り説やSIMの約定を翻訳してください」という依頼がくるようになった。

友達の2-3行から10行程度なら、5-6分で訳できるけど、A4の用紙にして10枚以上にもなるものを
訳してというのは、すこしSLというゲームから逸脱していると思う。

RLなら、原稿1枚で、学生アルバイトでも6000円が相場であるから、RLなら10枚だと60000円は
要ることになる。SLなら、L$10000もらっても、4000円くらいであるからと、SLのフィリスに依頼するというのは
SLの製品だし、好意でやるのであって、仕事というわけではないのである。

翻訳のprocesｓとしては；

1）普通翻訳と「技術翻訳」があるが、SLやPC関係の場合は、特殊な技術翻訳に類するものだとおもう。
技術翻訳だと/たとえば、寸法公差＝dimension tolerance
などの、Technical　Termsが続出するが、SLも辞書ではわからない、特殊な用語だらけである。

2）普通翻訳は通じればいいのだが、特に外国で売ろうとする製品の場合には、
A)日本文
B)英訳（＝翻訳者がcreatorであればいいが、他人であるばあいにはその製品を渡して十分に
説明をするべきである）（できれば、翻訳をするばにつきそって逐一、訳語を確認すべきである）
C)最終的な仕上げは、native　speakerの点検を受けるべきである。
ちょとした前置詞や冠詞の用法とか、文の書き方は、たとえば、外人が書いた日本語では
「てにをは」がおかしく感じられたりするから、ＳＬで知り合いの英米人に、目を当してもらうと
よいのである。
Please will you proofread my English sentences?
Will you please check up my English instruction manual?
Please point out any unnatural expressions in my manuscript?

といえば、直してくれるし、いやがるなら、長さにもよるけど、L＄100---L$1000も出せば
喜んで直してくれるでしょう！

Anastasia　Watanabe　のお葬式：

6/13（SUN)は、親友だったAnnaのお葬式でした。
SL時間の6/13　12：00PDT（Pacific　Daylight　Time）はちょうど日本とは16時間の時差ですので、6/14（月曜日）04：00からでした。　出席者はアメリカ人とイギリス人だけで、日本人はフィリスだけというお葬式でしたので、どういう様子だったかをご報告します。式は、すべてボイスでおこなわれましたが、もちろんすべて英語です。

もちろん、すべて英語だから、内容の何％が理解できるかしらという気持ちもありましたが、そういう心配は不要でした。
このAnastasia　Watanabe　の葬儀の司式をおこなったのは、BA　Legend　というアメリカ人の男性でした。

追悼のスピーチを最初に彼が行いました。
彼と彼女は、SLだけでなく、RLでも恋人同士で、ローマやベニス、ロンドンやニューヨークをいっしょに旅行をした。
アナは、本、花、小鳥、海が大好きだった」
BAは、I became a better man because of Anna.[アナがいたから、わたしはより良い人になった」
　　　　I became kind because of Anna..[アナがいたから、わたしはやさしい人になった」
　　　　I became generous because of Anna..[アナがいたから、わたしは寛大な人になった」
という言葉には感動しました。
　　　　Annaがなくなる3時間まえまで、国際電話ではなしをしていて、彼女が話せなくなると電話機のkeyを、
　　　　YESなら、　1回
　　　　NOなら。　　2回
　　　　I　love　you　なら　くりかえしてと決めて、はなしをつづけたーー

　出席していた27名の友人のうち、男性は、BAともう1人だけ、のこりはすべて女性、ボイスで出ていたのは、20名でした。
　ボイスのひとは、すべて、一言二言のアナへの別れのことばを語り、フィリスももちん、用意していたスピーチをしましたよ。

Please accept my condolences.
I can hardly express my feelings of sorrow right now.Looking back on my past days, I used to live on this SIM. Basil Beatte　and Anastasia were my neighbors and I often visited Anna's gorgeous
residence with a waterfall inside her room. It was really superb and wonderful!

One time I asked Anna to record her voice to add to my SEXy Voice HUD,and it was a great success with her wonderful beautiful voice recorded　and carried in the HUID. It is a sort of best seller in SL world!

For this memorial service day I have prepared a vender to give away her　item to be brought back with each one of you today. You can hear her voice through this hud.

May her soul rest in peace! May your memory of Anna stay in your heart　for a long time to come!

danceといったものでした。

さようなら＝Anastsia　Watanabe!　姓がわたしとおなじであるので、すごく親しみを感じました。
Anastsia　Watanabeのすんでいた、Skopelosの土地と写真studioは、友人によって永久に保存されることになりました。

Anastasiaと共同制作した、VOICE　HUDは、これからも、かの女の土地を維持するために活用されますので、よろしくお願いします。
また、ＳＬでの写真家を目指したAnnaのstudioは、開放されているので、どうぞお越しください。

悲しい知らせ！ある友達の死！
もう1年以上も前に、友達になったイギリス人の女性ですが、何ヶ月も前に、病気になったんだというはなしだった
glue（＝「のりをつける」）治療してもらった」とかいうので、「えーそれって」なんのこと？」て
聞くと、ガンの治療だという。どこの「ガン」かは、言わなかったの、それ以上を聞くのは、悪いと思っていたけど、最近は
まったくでなくなっていた。
その子の名前は、Anastasia　Watanabe、姓は、私と同じで「渡辺」だけど、イギリス人で、
profileの写真は，ｒｅａｌの写真を使っていて、すごく魅力的な30歳くらいの女の子でした。

わたしが、ボイスのHUDを作っていて、売り物になりそうなSEXY　VoiceのHUDを作りたいといったら、さっそく協力
してくれて、録音した彼女の声をさっそく送ってくれた。
SkopelosというギリシアのSIMに住んでいたから、大の仲良しだったけど、先週の金曜日あさの08：12になくなり
「舌のガン」だったらしい」とSWEDENのVICKSという子から、連絡がきた。SLでお葬式をやるらしいから、あかりも
日本代表ででなくてはねーーと思う。
SLなのに、まいにち、うれしいこともあるけど、すごく悲しいことが多くって、きょうも泣いてしまいましたよ！

It's a small,small world(2)

View of life and the world as a woman;

In the real-life world, if you are a woman,and if you come to the age of discretion, or if you come of age, you will
think to yourself, " All right I am a woman in body and soul and I am good in health, and I function well　as a woman physically and mentally. But that is onｌy a biological matter.　If you are born as a woman, every other woman is like yourself. She has a pretty face, beautiful breasts, a slim cute waist, and slender legs, etc,etc----

In secondlife too, you will think about the above-mentioned matters as well, you yourself will think of something more than the above.
OKAY THAT IS ONLY ONE SIDE OF MYSELF. I WOULD LIKE TO BE AND DO SOMETHING MORE THAN THAT!

That is something you as a woman would like to do and show to the world outside yourself.

I first wanted to earn a lot of money like Ansche Chang, a Chinese woman who lives in Germany now.
But that was something that has ended as a dream now. It is hardly possible to realize my dream like hers.

Another thing I wanted to materialize was to create something nobody else has ever tried before.;

One night a good idea occurred to me.As I majored in English and some other languages in college such as
German(= I learned German from native speakers of German for four years), French and Chinese.

What occurred to me was to make up a Voice HUD to help avatars to speak in different foreign languages of the world:
It is because;

1) Very few avatars in Japan or elsewhere in the world try to speak using a Voice Chat function:
because some of them are not really women even though they wear women shapes and /or skins.
2)They are women all right but simply because they do not like to show their real selves in terms of
their age, or their whereabouts.
3)Women do not like to let their voices heard by others because they are playing the game of SL
inside their homes and they do not want other persons in the family to hear what they are doing in SL.

So the process of creating my HUDs started; I never knew how to make HUD's, but a good friend of mine
gave me her helping hands to make such HUDs. Her name is Kumi and she was my lover in those days.
She suggested, "Each button of any HUD is a prim, and If youI want 20 buttons, you will have to place twenty buttons on the surface of a panel." That was a great hint for producing a HUD.
In those days my lover and I lived on Mainland, and when my first HUD was completed with the help of
a good scripter friend of mine Miki Franciosa, my lover and I were overjoyed at the prospect of becoming
millionaires like Ansche Chang, but it was nothing but a dream!
To be a successful business person, you must know how to sell and how to continue to sell in Secondlife.
And there are thousands of creators in SL but only a handful of them are successful in making money!

In time I have learned one sales technique after another in Second Life.
But it seems to me that I will have to continue to learn how to create each different item and
how to sell each of them.

It’s a small, small world!

"Fancy meeting you here!(＝奇遇ですわね？）are the words spoken by Phyllis in Secondlife!
I as an avatar visit various places in SL, and come across someone I am acquainted with here and there
and I often say," Long time no see. How have you been?(=元気だった？）”.

It is a really small, small world! Your encounter with such persons turnｓ out to be another kind of
adventure and discovery which explain that my friend A has been friends with another person B
for a real long time.　Person B too has been one of my friends for a long time.　
Oh yes, it is a small world indeed!

And I love this world of Secondlife so much.
Why do I love this world of Secondlife.

It is very much like telling you the reason why I love somebody when I　am in love with that person.
When you are asked by someone why you love or like such and such person, you can easily answer
with smiles, " Yeah I love him just because I love him!" This kind of answer sounds so strange and foolish, but
but someone who asks you the reason for love and affection is foolish, too!

I can also say that I love this world of Secondlife so much, because you come to love your avatar yourself.
I have several avatars of mine, and I find each of my avatars is so cute and cool.
You come to love each of your avatars in secondlife, and you find each of your avatars is representing
some parts of your personality, and as a result each of them is somewhat different in his or her personality just because she reflects somewhat different dimension of yourself.

When I was born in this world of Secondlife I never thought I would love someone and fall in love with someone
in Secondlife. But it turned out that when I was hugged and kissed by a German boy at Harajuku in Tokyo, I was
so excited and thrilled and felt a great deal of happiness and joy, and I felt so good.
I said to Sam Allen right away, " Will you marry me?" He was surprised and yet after some hesitation, he agreed to
marry me, and he okeyed to marry me in spite of the fact that he had married a German lady most recently in Real
Life. I will not tell you more stories of love here but there have been scores of love stories about me and my lovers
that can easily make up a book or two in real life situations.
Also I can easily call back each minute detail of when and how I came to love somebody and my love story started.
But when I ask my ex-lover as to when our story started, some of my male friends do not remember when and where
they　kissed or hugged me for the first time.　It sounds strange enough to me, but maybe there must be some
psychological difference between a male person and a female person like myself.

英文表現教室（20）　Names　of　Meat　肉の名称

肉には；
食用の肉＝meat　と　食用でない肉＝flesh　があります。

食用の肉は：動物の名前と、肉になった場合の名称が異なります。

1）牛肉＝　beef　　　動物名＝cow　　　メス牛で代表します＝雌牛で代表する理由は、人間にとってメス牛のほうが有用であるから（＝お乳を出してくれるからですね！）　雄牛＝bull

2）豚肉＝　pork　　　動物名＝pig、hog

3）羊肉＝　mutton　動物名=sheep

4）鶏肉＝　chicken　動物名＝hen　雌鶏（＝理由は、メスは卵を産んでくれるから、代表です。

日本武術=Japanese　Martial　Arts

This article concerns typical Japanese martial arts, Judo and Karate, both of which are most famous, and Judo is
among the sports fought in the Olympic Games.

Judo is a typical Japanese sport, and is world-famous. Its feature is like this;
Even a woman like me can defeat a strong man, who is obviously stronger in physical strength.
The reason for this is that if you are trained in the martial art of Judo, you can take advanatage
of a stronger person, and even if you are weaker in physical power, you can make the best use of
your opponent's strength, and can easily throw him away. Often women learn this martial art called
judo to protect themselves from the hands of erotic men who will attempt to rape them.

karate(=empty hands) is another Japanese martial art, which seems to have come from Mainland China.
Shaolin Temple's Karate seems to have come to Japan and spread to prevail as several kinds of schools
of karate.
